Toni and Guy Reconstruction Mask | Review | English Rose

Hello,

Toni and Guy Reconsruction Mask.

Available at boots for £7.19
(photos by next week)

Firstly,
OMG a mask for your hair?? Never heard of such a thing!
But this is the far best thing I have ever tried. The formulation is really thick and really really reminds me of a body butter?! It wasnt runny though like some body butters. I used this by putting a palm size amount on wet hair and combed it through. As soon as I combed it through I could feel how silky it was. I then left it on for 10 minutes a washed it off.
After my hair was dry I was so happy, it looked as if my hair had been freshly cut. This really does constuct your hair!
I would give it a 9/10 for 'Value for money' because I really do think that for £7.19 this tub is a miracle worker and really makes a different.
I would give it 9/10 for 'Effectiveness' because it makes hair look brand new and fresh.
I would give it a 7/10 for 'Smell' because just like the shampoo it does smell toxic which isnt very nice.
Would I buy this again?
I'd buy this again because I was so impressed. I'd never tried a reconstruction mask but I am defiantly going to keep buying this and maybe try some other products that are available. Perfection in a tub.
Thank you,
Lucy xx

My Daily Skin Care | Asda 'Young Skin' range | Review | English Rose

(better quality photos by next week)
What I love is a good skincare routine. I love the feeling of fresh, spot prone skin. It just makes me feel better within myself.
A few months ago I was going through a phase of red, puffy, spotty, oily skin and tbf it really brought me down. Nothing I tried made the skin look human. I felt ugly and felt like I had to smother myself in makeup to at least look normal. I felt insecure and ugly. I would hate school because I always ended up with an oily forehead and my endless spots would make an appearance. Above all people would point out the massive lumps I had on my head, making me paranoid and on edge. My makeup was so thick I might as well of been a Satsuma.
It wasn't until one Saturday that I was off to dancing when the moment we all dread happened. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and I had the worst foundation line ever. I could of cried. To sort it out we stopped at a little chemist shop and bought some wipes. I then sat in the car scrapping the mask off. I got upset because what was looking back at me was Miss spot head. I daren't go in my dancing class with my naked face but I ended up walking in trying to move my fringe so it would cover my face. Tbf no one did notice but being round loads of spot free girls, I felt like piggy in the middle.
After the class I had a breakdown in the car and told my mum about how terrible I looked and most of all felt. She explained to me that every teenager goes through a stage of spots and oily skin. I knew that but what she then said made me think a bit. She said that you could prevent spots and oily skin by managing it. She meant that eating healthier and leading a healthier lifestyle can help.
On the way home we drove past ASDA and she said we could go in there to go find some spot creams and cleansers to help.
When we were in the isle hunting down something that would suit me, we came across ASDAs own make called 'Young Skin'. Personally I think the name couldn't be better. I couldn't believe my eyes something just for people like me. Instantly I was skimming through the range of things 'Young Skin' had and was literally convinced there and then that maybe this was the solution. They had a cleanser and toner, a moisturiser, two types of face scrub and some makeup wipes. Not only was the packaging eye catchy the prices were literally dirt cheap. I was persuaded I needed to try this stuff and buy it now. I do not lie when I say you can get the lot for about £5. Cheap as chips.
A month on after using the products I currently am spot free and living life to the full. I go to school without any makeup sometimes and feel much more confident. I am not saying that this will cure full on acne but I can say that in some shape or form this will help you. I was diagnosed (is that the word) with 'mild acne' when I went to the chemist in ASDA. You would never of thought that though now. I cannot stress how much happier I feel in myself.
The products themselves are as followed. Take note that to get your skin clears you do have to work at it by following it by using it twice a day everyday.

1) The foaming face scrub-This scrub is available from ASDA for £1.00.

Yes this is really £1. I cannot believe the price tag to be fair because I would pay much more for any of these products. First up is this face scrub. This face scrub is just one of the scrubs that has been tested by me. I have used so many and never really be satisfied. This one got me excited though because it contained walnut shells. I never ever thought this would work. I mean nuts in a scrub? Yet it did and left my skin soft and clean. What really made me buy it is that it claims that it removes oil build up. As I have described before, I struggle with that and this really helped out. It must of absorbed it or something. The texture of the scrub is clear with little brown pieces in it. Once on skin and rubbed in, it foams up and produces some lather. I use this first and then remove it with luke warm water. I am impressed. I had a nicer feel to my skin and it felt clean and yes OIL FREE. Thank you ASDA.

2. The Cleanser and Toner milk.-This is available from ASDA for yet again £1.
OK my favourite out of the lot is this cleanser and toner. I apply it two a little cosmetic cotton wool pad. You can get them from practically anywhere. The one I use are from Primark, so cheap. I then wipe it across my face removing all the dirt. This is really great. Once I used it I was sooo happy. You could literally feel your face smoother straight away. I personally bought this because I was advised by a pharmacist at ASDA that this could benefit me. I spent ages searching for one. A cleanser is a really nice thing to own. This one made me feel fresher and more awake everyday. The formula is really creamy and white. It squeezes out easy and makes the surface of your skin perfectly clean. I use this second, after the scrub every morning and night. It also is a great primer. I do not lie, it does help your skin like a primer as well. So you could double up and just use this. I will not stop buying this. It has improved my skin so much. ASDA you genius.

3. The matte finish moisturiser.-This is available from ASDA for £1.
To finish of everything, I use this moisturiser. It is not perfect but it does what it says and does leave you with shine free skin, so I suppose I can not complain. What I loved about this is that it was light and a little covers your whole face. Not only does it have a cheap price tag, but this topped of the routine and let skin look shine free, which is a life saviour for me. I like using this during the day because it refreshes your skin and keeps you alive. The formula is really creamy, like all the products, and it really soft to touch. Instead of venturing out and buying expensive day and night creams this is just as good.

Thanks for reading. I was scared about posting about how I struggled with teenage spots because at points I believed I was alone and yes ugly.
Thank you,
Lucy xx

Soap and Glory 'Sugar Crush' Body Wash | Review | English Rose

Hello,

Soap and Glory 'Sugar Crush' Body Wash.

This body wash is available at Boots for £6.50

(photos by next week)

Lets just say if I could scream the word YES right now I would. I am defiantly buying this again, no question. The smell is incredible: just like the scrub. ITS LIME HEAVEN. I could cry though because I have no more :(.  I would say that out of all the body washes I've used, this one is the creamiest and actually leaves an amazing smell on your skin all day.  It foams really well and a little goes a long way. Heaven in a bottle. This my friends is per-fec-tion. All I used was a pea size on my hand and hello super soft and great smelling skin.
I would give it an 8 out of 10 for 'Value for money' because in my opinion I think it is a little bit over priced... this is because most body washes that I've used before are like £2 BUT I suppose for what it is and the great smell wont stop me when I go buy it again.
I would give it a 8 out of 10 for 'Effectiveness' because I absolutely loved the way it smelt, foamed and lathered.
And you guessed it, I would give this a 10 out of 10 for 'Smell' because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SO MUCH! It just smells great and works great with the body scrub. It has hints of lime and a zest of lemon which is gourgeos. Soap and Glory.. I love you.
Would I buy it again?
Defiantly. I will buy this again because using this was lathery, smelly heaven and made bath time absolutely incredible. I will keep buying this again forever. Please don't ever stop making this Soap and Glory!
Thank you,
Lucy xx

'I Love Strawberries and Milkshake' shower cream | Review | English Rose

I Love Strawberries and Milkshakes... I certainly do.
Ok so I tend to not go out and buy bath type products. I leave that to my mum but all I saw when I was in Superdrug was strawberries and milksakes and this happened to end up in my hands and I was out of the shop. I did pay for it so don't worry. This is a brand exclusive to Superdrug. They do a whole range of different products such as lip balms and scrubs all with the same smell. There was other ones as well but this one was pink. Enough said.

Ok so as you probably you have guessed I have a thing for smells. I love the smell of petrol and caffenine. So there not the best thing to breath in + smell of so things I buy technically have to smell the BEST to end up out of the shop and at my house.
There I was in Superdrug going along the line of products opening the lids and smelling them. This one stood out for me because not only was it pink, oh no it smelt of booming strawberries. I LOVE strawberries and there I was at the till with my £2.05 out. As soon as I got home I whipped it out of my bag and ran myself a bath. This promises to be a multi functional product: bubble bath and shower cream. I like things that are more than one thing because it means I have to buy less stuff to have the (very) long baths I enjoy a lot.
I ran the bath so it was about a centermetre high and I poured in the product. I made a line up the bath and I have to admit it did produce some foam. I mean it isn't the best bubble bath because the bubbles weren't big. However I would use this again to add some bubbles to my bath.
As for shower cream this was really foamy and left my body nice and soft. I actually smelt the product on my after about 5 hours. Result.
I will be buying this again because as you can see it is half empty and has been extremely enjoyed by me. Guess that will be in my monthly empties/used us products next month.
Thank you,
Lucy xx

Soap and Glory 'Glam a lot' body spray | Review | English Rose

Hello,
This review will be based on the Soap and Glory Glam a-lot body spray.

Soap and Glory 'Glam a lot' body spray.

This body spray is available in Boots stores for £6.50
(photos by the end of the week)

Lets start this of by saying I'm not that impressed to be honest. I'd heard so much about Soap and Glory sprays and when I used this I wasn't at all impressed. Don't get me wrong this spray smells quite nice (it smells of sweets) but it didn't last long. I was thinking that for the over priced price tag (which in my opinion I think is a tiny bit over) this was going to last longer than about half an hour, but it didn't..
I would give it a 6 out of 10 for 'Value for money' because I think that for how long it lasts it is a bit over priced but you do get a lot in the bottle. Also this spray  really does smell quite nice so if I was to buy this again I may just have to keep replying it.
I would give it a 6 out of 10 for 'Effectiveness' because like I said it didn't last long at all.
I would give it a 8 out of 10 for 'Smell' because the smell was quite pleasant and fresh.
Would I maybe buy this again?
I would maybe buy this again because the smell was really nice and appealed to me but because it didn't last long this makes me question 'Do I buy this again?'

However I am probably the most picky unsatisfied critique ever. It takes quite a lot to make me 'love' a product because I always think that there might be something better out there to try. 'm surprised that this is my first critique of the year. You may love this product; it really does smell lovely but as for it not lasting long.. I might just have a cold or something.
Thank you,
Lucy xx

Nivea Essential Care Lip balm | Review | English Rose

Hello,
Here is a tiny little blog to keep you entertained for the day. Yesterday I accidently went shopping with my best friend Amy blogs @ www.kissesfromamytoyou.blogspot.com. It wasn't a complete accident but what I mean is that when I go shopping with Amy I always spend too much and end up with load of junk I don't need. HOWEVER being on a tight budget, of only having £10, I only bought 1 thing.
My lips were incredibly dry yesterday so without really wanting to buy the Nivea Essentials Care Lip balm I did. I did in fact purchase it from Poundland so BARGAIN but it is available from Boots and Superdrug for £1.65. All I saved was 65p but oh well.

With the weather we have been having my lips are crying out for some care. One minute it is really mild and then it is so windy my lips are sooooo dry. I have tried multiple lip care products and never really stuck to one. I never really like applying lip products because I forget and just lose them. However this one seemed really simple and small. I wanted it small so I cut put it I my pocket and not lose it. In the range there is other colours that provide tints but for everyday I wanted something simple. The packaging was not to complicated. I hate things that take forever to open and you need scissors to open so I could open this straight away and whip on. The substance of this was just a clear sort of tube.
After applying it, my lips became moist and softer. I believe I only applied it about twice and was very satisfied. I have to say though it has the resemblance of Vaseline. Vaseline is a personal favourite of mine so I guess this is too.
Since I have been growing my nails, I have found it harder and harder to actually get into the stupid tin. + all of the product gets in my nails. Annoying I tell you.
This however makes no mess at all and is so easy to open and apply. I like it because you don't have to wash your hands afterward. I don't know what it is but I really liked this. It gave off a shiny look and looked natural. If you don't know me then you probably don't know how much I rant on about wanting to keep my makeup 'Natural'. I like the natural look more than anything so this will go great with my everyday routine.
If you are looking for a cheap but effective alternative to lipstick then go buy this and Bobs your uncle.
Perfection I tell you, this is so moisturising. Beware this may be a bit sticky for you picky critiques but I love it so I would defiantly recommend it for you poor, dry lip beauties.
Thank you,
Lucy xx

Germolene | Spot Cream | English Rose

Todays a gender...
Germolene.
This is something that I thought I would never be blogging about when I started this blogging but here I am talking about SPOTCREAM. yay!
So this is not the nicest thing to read but please don't go away thinking I am so weirdo who likes spots because I don't.
With Germolene I can proudly say that I, Lucy Waterfield, am Spot free. That is something I am proud to say after suffering what was described as Mild acne. I wouldn't say it out load though, people might stare.
It was a month ago that I came to this product. I was walking past my sisters room and saw her applying this weird pink substance to her face. I asked her about it and she told me it was Germolene. I just laughed because this was something I had kind of known since I was little. This stuff is basically designed for cuts and wounds. It is meant to heal them better and stuff like that. Being the accident prone child I was, who used to count her bruises while se was in the bath, I regularly used this and knew what it was.
It wasn't until my sister had spot prone skin, which made me very jealous, that I went out and bought some from Boots for like £1.20 or something. At this point my skin was as I described at the beginning and anything could help.
I applied this every morning and night and over the course of about 2 weeks my skin was actually clearing up. I was so happy because for once I felt comfortable in my own skin. It was a relief as well because summer WAS on its way and I personally didn't fancy wearing all the slop I used to pile on my face.
The substance of this, lets say, is like toothpaste. This is the only thing that I can compare it with. Not only is the tube like a toothpaste tube but also the way it feels and squeezes out is the same. Don't panic though this doesn't smell all minty and fresh like toothpaste. I personally really like the smell. I think it smells sweet and like rubber gloves. Trust me it is not a weird toxic smell. My mum and sister though are not keen on it.
If you are looking for a cheap alternative to something like freedom, which is like £3 more than this, then I am writing this blog because I want to share something that does work. Honestly I never thought it would work for spots but it does and has been literally the thing I have used all month. I cannot say if it is meant to go on your face but I have had no problems with it.

Thank you,
Lucy xx
(photos will be different by the end of the week because not happy with this quality)

Topshop Lip Crayon in Secret Party | Review | English Rose

Hello,
I am not an overall buyer of new products so I was a bit shocked when I picked this up. I was currently in London's Topshop (which is massive) when this caught my eye. One thing I always do is look endlessly at there make up but never buy it. I see it as expensive. I know that they are about the same as drugstore make up but I never purchase anything. Why? I don't know.
This is Topshops Lip Crayon in the colour 'Secret Party'. My first thoughts were 'wow'. I thought it was a really bright, in your face red/pink. I tend to go for pale pinks and light colours so this was a bit of a 'should I, or shouldn't I' item. Don't get me wrong I thought this was a really nice shade and literally die when others pull it off. Most people wear bright colours with confident but I was a bit like 'no, I will look like a clown' before hand. I came over that and thought 'why not give it a go'. Then there I was with my little bag and out of the shop off to Harrods. Here is my review.

This particular Lip Crayon is available from Topshop for £6.
(camera is finally working btw)

As soon as I got back home I tried it straight away. It took a while to get use to because it was a really bold choice. I wouldn't wear this during the day because it is a tiny bit OTT but for night, BAMM. After I applied it I noticed the colour had a tiny bit of a hint of glitter. I loved the fact that it did and it really made it. The colour literally was so bright for so long. This stayed on for about 3 hours at least without any adjustments. It is really long lasting and worth the £6. The colour was so pretty and girly. It had a real party theme to it and just popped. I would keep eye make up simple when wearing this because bold, smoky eyes  and in your face red lips will over cast your face and you will look like a clown.

This is what the colour looked like on my arm. It is not  great piece of photography but basically it is this colour with hints of silver glitters. If you are looking for a lipstick that will work with everything and isn't red. This is a really great alternative to a red lipstick. It will look great in the summer because it is a really pretty, bright colour that will draw people to you.

What really made me buy this was the fact that it was a crayon. I was craving to try one so I thought this could be a nice taster. Honestly when my friend mentioned that they do lip crayons I just thought of my childhood. Endless hours of just pretty colouring. I thought that a crayon would have no moisture and would just be rock hard.
This is what the end of the crayon looks like. I have to disagree with my expectations because I think this is really moisturising product. It was just like a lipstick and delivered a smooth, soft feel. I felt my lips were not dry and were nice and .... I cant describe it but you know when you rub your lips together when you have lipstick on and it is really nice, that!
One down thing about this is that I have only used it about 3 times and I can see the little stick getting smaller. You cannot sharpen this so before long this will be run out. It wont last as long as other lipsticks but with the high shine, bold, long lasting colour. Maybe it is worthwhile.

This is what is on the back of the lipstick. I tried to find ingredients but could not find any as such. I don't think people can be allergic to lipsticks so I wasn't sure whether or not I should list them. I couldn't find then so this is all that is on it. This says here that it was made in Germany. So unless you are allergic to Germany this will be greeeaatt for you.
I personally love it and have got the Topshop makeup bug and is eager to try out more products. I cannot compare this to other Lip crayons so this may turn out to be totally rubbish. I think it is really nice and worth the money. I would buy it again with no hesitation. I defiantly recommend this. I would like to add that these opinions are completely my own and you might really hate this.

Thank you,
Lucy xx

Toni and Guy Cleanse Shampoo for damaged hair | Review | English Rose

Hello,

Ok so with my sudden craze of reading blogs and watching YouTube videos, I have become a bit obsessed with trying every beauty product God has ever invented. The most recent one I have tried and tested is the Toni and Guy Cleanse Shampoo for damaged hair. I recently purchased it from Boots on a 3 for £12 offer. Bargain!

Let’s start off by saying that about a year ago I hated my hair. It was dry, damaged and fragile. I had so many split ends!! It was because I became addicted to straightening my hair everyday and used so much heat. It came to the point where if there was one kink in my hair I would whip out my straighteners and burn the life out of it.

It wasn’t until earlier this year that I decided that I needed to start saying 'adios straighteners' and hello 'natural shiny hair'. I used a variety of hair products to bring back the natural 'OMPTH' that hair should have but it wasn't until I came across the Toni and Guy range last week that I started to become happier with my hair.

Toni and Guy Cleanse Shampoo for damaged hair.

(photo will be added by the end of the week, when my camera decides to work)

Available from Boots for £5.99.

Ok so the smell of the Shampoo isn't great, it smells kind of toxic which does NOT appeal to me at all. However I realised that it does make your hair smell great once dry so that's ok. It left my hair sooooooo smooth and soft it was unreal. Maybe other shampoos work just as great but this is the only one that makes my hair feel nice. It foamed really easy and made my hair look like foam land because a little squirt of this produces so much lather.

I would give it a 9/10 for 'Value for money' because I think that a £5.99 price tag is just perfect. It was so worth the money because the wonders it did for my hair were incredible. I'd never had such nice hair for ages.

I would give it a 9/10 for 'Effectiveness' because this is a product that ACUALLY DOES WORK. I can’t explain how because I would be running on but this products ends in nice smelling, smooth, soft hair. It is worth buying just for the satisfactory.

I would give it a 7/10 for smell because when I flipped the lid in Boots I kind of growled because I did NOT like it. In my opinion I think that it smells of toxic waste but ends in hair smelling clean and fresh and not toxic at all.

Would I buy this again?

I'd buy this again because you know that feeling when you are walking down the street and your hair looks good and you have that really big smile on your face. Well I had that moment the other day and it felt really good. I've never had nice hair for a while so I am defiantly buying this again.

Thanks for reading,

Lucy xx

Happy New Year | 2014 | English Rose

New year, new start, new me.
It is a brand new year and I am ready too kick start the year with a brand new blog and a fresh start. 2013 had its ups and downs and too be honest with you I'm glad its over. So I welcome 2014 with big open arms and want to bring on new challenges and just say yes to things I would of shrugged offed and would not of considered. Just before we said goodbye to 2013 I visited Egypt for Christmas and New Year and managed to survive and conquer the Red Sea. Ok I didn't take on some Shark but I managed to actually sit on the bottom of the sea while scuba diving with the family. I went down about 15 metres in the end and overcome the anxiety and fear of being eaten by a sea urchin. I want to make the most of 2014 because I feel like 2013 lacked excitement and fun so bring on mountain climbing and sword fighting...only joking, I'm not ready for that yet.
The majority of people make new years resolutions to try and make the most of the year and achieve goals that they may not of been able too do before. However probably 90% of people want to loose weight because they secretly indulged in too many Quality Streets and one more serving of turkey. Even though I did take advantage of the all inclusive hotel this year I want to change it up a bit and not go for the norm.

  • Organise myself.
Ok so you are currently encountering the most unorganised person on earth. Half the time I don't know where I am, what I'm doing or where anything is. My room is a mess most of the time and looks like a bomb has hit it. I am currently avoiding a scary pile of paper and junk that has been growing over the year on my desk that is starting to scare me. Maybe its time to meet. I want to keep on track of things and meet deadlines. Also it would be nice to see the colour of my desk more often. I have thought about keeping a diary so I can keep track of events and arrange and plan more activities. It would be nice to actually know what I am doing instead of winging it and forgetting about plans you had made earlier in the week.

  • Blog at least everyday.
Well if you ever came across my car crash of a first blog then you may know what I mean by this one. I have a very dusty, old blog that has been lost on the internet for a while. I started way back in March and it was going strong until about June where it came to a sudden stop. I don't know why but I think that links into Miss Unorganised. I think I couldn't find the time or tbf wasn't bothered. It was called 'Lucylou' and it eventually ranked in about 1000 views a week. I think giving in so easily is a big regret because too me those 1000 people made my day when I looked at the stats. However I really want to launch English Rose and hopefully open doors that I couldn't before because this is something I enjoy and if I can do as a career. Also it is an excuse to splash out on a few more beauty products than usual. I want to blog at least everyday because I think a reader will know me a bit better and know when to expect new posts. It also means every day there will be a fresh new post for you to sit down with a cuppa and have a good old nosing.

  • Eat better.
Alright I never eat healthy and have never seen 5 a day. My family usually eat their 5 a day and eat all their vegetables but mine are always left lonely on the plate. I just don't like them and don't want to be eating them. I have quite irregular skin so one minute it is spot free and the next its a blemish nightmare. So I believe if I improve my diet then I will feel more vitalised, refreshed and feel better. Hopefully my skin will be better and my hair will be shinier. *fingers crossed*

  • Get fitter.
Real random one. I have this ambition to bike from my house to the city centre. It is about 3 miles but I really want to achieve it. I would like to join the gym and maybe go swimming every so often because if I am honest I am so lazy. I never really move from my bedroom but starring at the same 4 walls all the time gets so boring so I need to get out more. Preferably in the summer when its not raining.

Ok so there are my 4 limp resolutions that probably be forgotten by the end of the night because *slaps wrist* I have already ate 2 McDonalds, slept in till 12pm 2 days in a row and started this blog on the 4th. Ok so that already makes me lazy, unorganised and a fatty. Woop woop, what a great start. Hopefully it will get better...hopefully.

My name is Lucy Waterfield by the way, sorry for the long awkward introduction but I welcome you to my little corner of the web. English Rose is something I want to expand into my own little world that I want to share with everyone and you are welcome to come along on my little journey this year.

Looking back on the year 2013 seems quite brief. Nothing really spectacular happened that will leave a landmark in my life but I didn't exactly hate it. This year I turned 14 which in my eyes is a great age because I feel much more grown up and independent but secretly still scared of the dark (yes scared of the dark). I visited Egypt for Christmas and New year and Bulgaria for the first time. I met some amazing people that I believe will be my friends for ever and braved my anxiety and performed in the school production of Les Miserables which was so much fun. I managed to scuba dive in the red sea and quad bike through the middle of the dessert and survive.

For my family, 2014 is a bridge stone for them. This year my mum is going to turn the big 5 0, my sister, Amber, is going to turn 18 and my nanny is turning 70. I am the youngest in my family so it'll be a while till I have a special birthday but I wish them all a happy birthday. I still have no idea what to get my sister for her birthday. Help! I've got till the end of the month to get something.

That brings us too an end of 2013. This year I hope to achieve goals and get to do more things I only wish I could do. Bring on the fun, excitement and challenges.

Best Wishes and a Happy New Year.

Lucy xx
